So a few days have elapsed since the England Holland game but as promised we’re back with the second half of our musings on the rapidly approaching Premier League football season. By the way on the England v Holland game what can we say, England once again proved that they have the capacity to be both great and gastly! I’m sure Don Capello will have learnt a lot from the game though. Against teckers teams like the Dutch surely we need to employ the services of more dynamic players such as Defoe, SWP, C.Cole, Milner, Ashley Young, Walcott and the like. Wedenesday’s game proved that this is when England are the most dangerous coz we just simply can’t cut it when it comes to passing through teams, we should leave that to the likes of the Spanish and play to our strengths, don’t ya think?
!!!*sidebar*!!! A BIG SHOUT OUT TO BECKS! Despite all the criticism that comes his way this guy has been able to remain at the top of the game and continues to rise above his haters and break into the England team and perform. Thats the kind of drive we like to see at M.O.M. Not many players can say they have played for three of the greatest clubs in World football. So to his haters we give you a M.O.M:
Anyway enough of me, so the predictions of our two remaining bloggers:
Da Vinci thinks:
TOP FOUR: Man u, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal/Aston Villa
Now a lot of people would put Manchester City instead of Arsenal and for good reason too, but personally I believe City’s strength is also their weakness. They have so many big names that all expect to play every week, it will eventually become a backroom battle of who should start. Tevez will be like I should play you paid this much for me and Adebayor will be like well you paid this much for me why aren’t I playing? Mark Hughes isn’t a big enough manager to deal with all those egos not even to mention Craig Bellamys! PLUS they will have to rotate the squad so much to accommodate having like 99 strikers that the team will never get into a good rhythm of playing well. Arsenal will nick 4th place in the second half of the season or will just miss out to Aston Villa if Villa play as well as they did last season.
BOTTOM THREE: Burnley, Wolves, Portsmouth
Ok I say this because Burnley all jokes aside stand no chance whatsoever I have no idea what they are going to do when they play ManYoo or even Fulham. Wolves’ manager; legendary underachiever Mick McCarthy can’t hack the premier league, he has had two teams previously promoted and they both went down the same season. As for Portsmouth I just don’t think they can ride their luck anymore, they have had a turbulent last season, no one seems to know who is running the club and they are selling off all their players just to keep the club afloat, if they do get relegated it just goes to show like Newcastle bad business equals bad football.
MOST GOALS: Fernando Torres
If this guy doesn’t hit 30 goals I’ll eat my left foot. Enough said.
SURPRISE PACKAGE: Jack Wilshere
The youngster has all the qualities to become great and is at the right club to do it. Only 17 and already got a call up to the England under 21’s. I reckon this season he won’t start much but when he does he will be brilliant.
SIGNING OF THE SEASON: Michael Owen £0
Even if he turns out to be crap Michael Owen for nothing is the best piece of footballing business since Arsenal sold Pascal Cygan for actual money.
FIRST TO E SACKED: Mark Hughes
I just don’t see how such a small time manager can successfully manage such an upcoming club.
Supernova’s thoughts:
TOP FOUR: Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool
I see all my fellow bloggers believe that Man U will retain the championship but I think otherwise. This is simply down to two men, the man Man U have lost and the man Chelsea have brought in. Christiano Ronaldo could carry Man U on his shoulders and always produced at the moment United needed that something special. Whilst they still look good they longer look great and this is not to mention the loss of stalwart Carlos Tevez. Chelsea on the other hand are looking stronger and even more solid. Mr Ancelotti a proven winner and two time Champions League winner with AC seems to have bought back that appetite amongst the squad that has been lacking since the departure of the ’special one’. Their squad is the best and I think Chelsea will be the hardest to beat. Arsenal despite their critics continue to remain in the top four it will be the same this season.
BOTTOM THREE: Bolton, Wolves, Burnley
The Bolton outfit have been on the decline ever since the departure of Sam Allardyce who held the club together and maximised the resources at his disposal. His succesor Megson just doesn’t seem as adept and I think their time will be out. Wolves HA HA no chance, I think I will put my house on that one. Everytime they come up they go straight back down, things will be no different this year. Burnley no experience in the Premirer League will surely be out of their depth.
MOST GOALS: Didier Drogba
This guy terrorises any defence he’s up against, especially Arsenal’s. A proven goal scorer and surely he will deliver again and bring Chelsea the title. Plus he’s got Nicolas Anelka up their with him now. These two are gonna tear defences apart.
SURPRISE PACKAGE: JackWilshere
This yout’ has got untold bags of ability. Still only 17 he possesses a skill level beyond his years and more importantly has the composure to bring that onto pitch, unlike some other Arsenal youngster (Walcott). Watching him in pre season has been refreshing winning Man of the match in both games in the Emirates Cup. Watch out for him!
SIGNING OF THE SEASON: Michael Owen
The biggest mistake he made was leaving Liverpool but Owen now has his last chance to perform at the highest level. Some say he’s a risk but once a goal scorer always a goal scorer and he’s surrounded by better players now. Hopefully he stays injury free!
FIRST TO BE SACKED: Harry Redknapp
I love this guy (check the hilarious video of him below) and still think he should be England manager. But Tottenham are a just a joke really continuously buying strikers and attackers but never addressing the problem of their leaky defence. As usual the board will grow impatient with poor results and he’ll be off, the cycle continues.
So people those are a few of our thoughts on the football season and I’m sure in some way or another we’ll try and get some football content on the blog. In the mean time to all my fellow football fans we’re in for a cracking season and to top it all off the beautiful game will be coming to the Motherland in summer 2010!!! We’re in for a football filled year! COME ON!!!!
